only one warrior could win Vikings: Valhalla,

And that’s exactly what happened in the season two finale of the Netflix drama, in which Freedis (frida gustavsson), a shield-maiden dedicated to defending the pagan faith, and Olaf (johannes haukur johansson), a devout Christian determined to put an end to the old ways.

While some viewers may have assumed that the ruthless Olaf would ultimately be victorious, Freddy proved she was as fierce as she was clever, destroying Olaf’s army with fire and defeating him in a one-on-one fight. Demolished.

The final battle was epic and bloody and, according to Gustavsson, it took a lot of practice to pull off. “We wanted to make it the biggest thing we possibly could,” she exclusively told E! news. “We spent months working on that fight.”

Gustavsson credits “genius” producer jeb stuart To create a top-notch finish to someone’s fiercest fighting season. “The end of season one, I thought it was so big. So action-packed,” she said. “And [Stuart] did it again better. Big. And I think the Freddys and Olaf’s final performance is terrific.”
